In our neighborhood we listen, we respect and we respond. When we see our neighbors in need we make these needs known to our community of volunteers - people from across the city who want to give and serve – and together we meet needs. Our volunteers may not live in this neighborhood but they want to be neighbors to those in need. Some of these needs may seem small and touch only one individual, like a child needing glasses. Some needs are larger, serving groups of people like providing showers, haircuts and food to the homeless, providing camaraderie and a meeting space for local veterans or providing a sense of strength and togetherness for families with addictions.
With over 3,000 square feet of meeting space, including 2 smaller meeting rooms and a 3,000 square foot warehouse, we invite local service groups interested in using our facility for meetings, events, and service projects to contact us at 929-256-2820. You may also make a facility booking request by clicking on the Facility Request Form at the top of this page. You may not see needs in your own neighborhood, but we see needs in ours. Join us and be neighbors with us. It’s easy – find where you fit. Just help your neighbor!

Many of these groups were in attendance and each was given time to share about their service program. This offered a wonderful opportunity for non-profits to meet and discuss collaboration opportunities. Special entertainment was provided by the Hazel Green FFA String Band.
The Livin’ Room is excited about our church and non-profit partnerships as we look forward to 2022. We provided an overview of our planned facility upgrades designed to meet the needs of our growing service activities and requested input from our partners on additional needs. Our most critical upgrades for 2022 are:
Expand our Bathrooms
Upgrade Kitchen and Kitchen Area
Install HVAC System in Warehouse (Supporting Shower-Up in Winter/Youth Camps Summer)
Configure Additional Training Rooms
Configure Pavilion Area
Expand Storage
Add Signage
Any donations toward these upgrades would be greatly appreciated!

WHO WE ARE
Bringing Neighbors Together From Across the City
The Livin’ Room is an all volunteer 501(c)(3) organization. Our objective is inclusion. This is seen in our programs, our volunteers as well as our Board of Directors who come from a wide variety of backgrounds and careers in Huntsville and North Alabama. The Livin’ Room is a local 100% volunteer service center where those with needs are honored and aided in a caring, neighborhood-like way. Our facility at 2820 Governor’s drive is at a crossroads of a community with needs and a new generation of volunteers. As important as it is to help those in need, we believe developing a new generation of volunteers is also vital to our community. We connect caring people with specific local service and resource needs to help our neighbors. Service projects vary in size from a few hours a quarter to several hours per week and donation drives small enough for student groups or large enough for businesses. We work with neighborhood children, veterans, parent support groups, the homeless as well as provide neighborhood life-skill training. We are partnered with local government through the Huntsville Housing Authority and work with numerous local non-profits including the Seminole Drive Boys and Girls Club, Bearded Warriors and Huntsville Good Samaritans. Our service center is also used by churches and charity groups as a staging area and point of outreach for service projects.

How You Can Help
2023 has been a very challenging year for all of us as well as non-profits and The Livin’ Room. While we have grown this year, the cancellation of many fundraising events has impacted our budget significantly. We are totally dependent on donations to operate the Livin Room Our year-end elevated needs are donations to support:

1. This year we plan several renovations in our large group and kitchen areas to be better equipped to serve and teach.

We greatly appreciate any size monetary donation.
To learn more please contact Randy Fowler (info@thelivinroomhsv.org or 929-256-2820) and we can get you information on how you can be a part!
